Woodbine forced to cancel Thursday program

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Unsafe track conditions prompted Woodbine Race Course to cancel Thursday's racing card. Heavy overnight rain caused the synthetic main track to become unsafe.

"Extraordinary rains have simply overwhelmed our drainage," said Woodbine Entertainment Group's vice-president of thoroughbred racing, Steve Koch. "We have every expectation that the surface will return to normal conditions for training and racing tomorrow."

Woodbine officials expect to conduct Friday's nine-race card as scheduled.
