HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

CALDER

CONQUEROR JAK: Hasn’t gotten her picture taken since July, but appears to be in fine form posting three straight third-place finishes at 12-1, 22-1 and 4-1. Get on board.

EXCLUSIVE SARAH: Reported home second when sprinting over the main track in her unveiling, then handled a switch to grass and two turns with a third-place finish. Get behind a runner.

EXTRA BREW: Finished up smartly after a troubled trip to finish a good third at 11-1 in his debut. From the Henry Collazo barn.

GRANDE SHORES: Stakes-placed juvenile of 2010 has finally resurfaced on the worktab after disappearing following an impressive maiden win in December. On the comeback trail for top outfit.

LAWNSWOOD: Versatile colt received little respect after posting his maiden win at 12th asking, but followed with a runner-up effort at 56-1 in his first attempt against winners. Strike while the iron’s hot; playable over either surface.

LEGENDARY STORM: Plenty of chances for this guy, but woke up with a stretch to two turns recently, completing the trifecta at 13-1. Get a price and go with it.

BEST BET: SOLE RUNNER: Has turned into a real model of consistency since returning from a break in May. Can go long or short, and has also proven he can handle turf with a third-place finish back in July. Hard not to like this gelding.

LONGSHOT: MEASURE UP: Posted two big efforts at 15-1 and 10-1 in September, but has been disappointing in two subsequent trips to post. Capable of getting back on track versus cheapies.

NO. CALIFORNIA

HEY MARIA: SoCal invader has done her part in four attempts since shipping in. Go in with both fists no matter the surface.

LIT DE BET: Can be placed on or near the lead, and has always run well over this track. Should turn out to be a very profitable claim for Hess barn.

NO TRICKS FOR JACK: Burned some cash in latest, but has really been improving nicely with each career start if you take a look at the big picture. Expecting a career-best performance next time.

OLYMPIC STARTER: Outran her 30-1 odds after breaking from the rail in her unveiling to complete the trifecta. Should be able to build off that effort.

REALLY A KAT: Clearly exceeded expectations in her bow, reporting home a game third at 44-1. Take note.

ROOSTER CITY: Has elevated his game to the next level since switching to grass this summer. Early speed makes him a very dangerous performer.

SEDONA SPRING: Keeps improving as she drops down the ladder since debuting in a maiden special weight. Her day is coming soon.

SUWAALIF: Has completely reversed her form since shipping in from SoCal and switching barns. Speedy filly keeps up the good work.

BEST BET: BITS AND BOBS: Has come running late in both of her trips to post to collect runner-up honors. Won’t remain a maiden for long.

LONGSHOT: THE TOUR DIRECTOR: Recent fourth at 31-1 against tougher company is better than you think. Can post an upset over either surface.
