HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

TAMPA BAY DOWNS

MORADOR LLERS: Eight year old gelding from the Jamie Ness barn dueled from the inside last out through solid fractions, put a head in front into the lane but got outdueled by the odds-on favorite late, scores right back against basement claimers.

FRONTSIDE: Moved into a new barn for her last start and she was making her first start since July, broke from the far outside post 10, was able to clear for the lead, set solid fractions over the turf and drew away in the lane for an easy win in a sharp time, respect this runner as she moves forward.

WILD SKILLS: Has shown much improvement since shipping into Tampa, breaking his maiden two back against $8k maiden claimers, moved up against NW2L, made the clear lead, held that advantage into the lane and just missed late but D’Q’d for interference on the turn, tough right back.

JACKFROST OFCOURSE: Five year old gelding was making his first start since a wire to wire win at Calder back in June, was up close early on behind a sharp half mile in 44:2, moved to challenge into the lane and stayed on well for second, should be very tough right back.

FRIENDS RULE: Took a drop in class last out to $30k claimers over the turf, raced in 8th early on behind a solid pace, closing some ground through the lane to finish fourth about two lengths off the winner at 14-1, follow right back with similar.

BEST BET: NIGHT OF ROMA: Four year old filly closed well two back to score over NW3L claimers, was outrun early on again against better claimers, got into contention through the lane and finished up well for second in a solid time, respect this runner right back in current form.

LONGSHOT: RITMO CRIOLLO: Five year old gelding broke running from the rail last out, chased the leader into the lane but couldn’t go with those runners when it counted tiring to finish fifth at 55-1, will make his third start back off the layoff next out and can grab a piece at solid odds.

OAKLAWN

AUTOMATIC VICTORY: Split the odds-on entry last out finishing second behind the winner and holding on for second late by a neck in her first try for new barn, she handles many distances and was claimed again, fits nicely.

SKEERED: Didn’t disgrace himself in his first try with winners, setting the pace early on, took pressure into the lane and then stayed on gamely to the wire to finish a close-up third, his turn next out with NW2L $7.5k claimers.

HARLEY MAN: Has shown speed in all four career starts but they all ended in him giving ground through the lane, his most recent effort his tired to finish eighth and last, one more try for this three year old colt at a solid price.

KATE’S FOREST: Took some money for his debut going off at 9-1, was outrun early on trailing the field of 10 after steading at the start and then came with a five wide run into the lane but finished up well for fourth, improves off that effort and a better post will help.

COSTA DE ORO: Six year old gelding from the powerful Jamie Ness barn, was forwardly placed early on, moved into contention on the turn when another rival bore out, took over the lead and never looked back scoring in a sharp time, has two in a row and is ready for more, follow.

BEST BET: CITY SLEWTIONS: Three year old filly showed improvement when dropped into a maiden claimer two back, continued on that improvement with a wire to wire victory against $15k maiden claimers, Slew City Slew filly should be given a shot in her first try with winners next out.

LONGSHOT: SEYRULE: Since returning from a May layoff this runner had put in two poor efforts, he run a bit better last out closing to finish fourth at 30-1 in a race dominated by the speed, may be tounding back to form and fits with NW2L $7.5k claimers, price play.
