Charles Town Classic gains Larry Collmus

Charles Town, WV (Sports Network) - Nationally known track announcer Larry Collmus will provide the call for this year's $1 million Charles Town Classic at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. The 1 1/8-mile Classic will be held on April 14.

Collmus is the track announcer at Gulfstream and Monmouth Park and serves as the race caller for NBC's broadcast of the Triple Crown.

"I'm very excited about calling the Charles Town Classic," said Collmus. "Not only has it become one of the premier races for older horses in American racing, but it has special meaning for me. I've been coming to Charles Town as a fan since I was a teenager and to see it host such a tremendous event and to actually call it is a real thrill for me."

For the Charles Town Classic program Collmus will announce the final seven races after the track's regular announcer Jeff Cernik calls the first six events.
