By: SPORTS NETWORK

Arcadia, CA (Sports Network) - Next week's running of the 75th Santa Anita Derby could have a field of as many as 10 three-year-olds for the $750,000 race. The 1 1/8-mile Derby will go off on Saturday, April 7.

Two local winners are the projected favorites for the key prep event leading to the Kentucky Derby.

San Felipe Stakes winner Creative Cause and I'll Have Another, winner of the Robert B. Lewis Stakes, are the likely top choices for the race that has produced 15 winners of the Run for the Roses.

"Along with Creative Cause, we expect to have a very exciting horse named I'll Have Another, who was an impressive winner of the Grade II Robert B. Lewis Stakes here on Feb. 4," said Santa Anita Vice President of Racing Rick Hammerle. "Bob Baffert could have three horses in the Derby which is good news and Carla Gaines is definite with Midnight Transfer, who was third in the San Felipe and who won the San Pedro Stakes in January."

The post position draw for the race will be held Wednesday, April 4 with Tim Conway Jr., son of actor/comedian Tim Conway. the emcee.
