By: SPORTS NETWORK
Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Union Rags, the leading contender for this year's Run for the Roses, has been made the morning-line favorite for the final Kentucky Derby Future Wager of the year. The co-second picks are champion colt Hansen and the mutuel field.
The Future Wager, comprised of 23 individual three-year-olds plus the mutuel field, starts Friday at noon (ET) and concludes Sunday at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
Union Rags, winner of the Fountain of Youth Stakes last month, is the 3-1 early favorite among the 24 betting interests. Trained by Michael Matz, the colt will start Saturday in the $1 million Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park. At the close of the second Future Wager, Union Rags was the 4-1 second choice.
