Final Derby Future Wager has Union Rags the favorite

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Union Rags, third in Saturday's Florida Derby, closed at 9-2 when the final Kentucky Derby Future Wager ended on Sunday. The 138th Run for the Roses will be conducted on Saturday, May 5 at Churchill Downs.

The Future Wager was composed of 23 individual three-year-olds plus the mutuel field. It began Friday at noon (ET) and concluded Sunday at 6:30 p.m. (ET).

Union Rags, winner of the Fountain of Youth Stakes in February, opened the Future Wager as the 3-1 favorite, but his third-place finish to Take Charge Indy moved him up to 9-2.

Take Charge Indy dropped from 50-1 in the morning-line to 15-1.

The mutueal field, representing all unnamed three-year-olds, was the second pick at 6-1.

Champion colt Hansen was the third choice at 8-1 when the betting closed. Hansen won the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct in his last race and will start in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on April 14.
