Derby contenders arriving at Churchill Downs

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - The probable Kentucky Derby favorite is now stabled at Churchill Downs in preparation for the May 5 Run for the Roses. Arkansas Derby winner Bodemeister along with stablemate Secret Circle, second in the race, are both housed under the Twin Spires.

"Both colts are doing very well," assistant trainer Peter Hutton said. "There's a chance that they will walk one more day, but more than likely they will both jog tomorrow (Wednesday).

"Bodemeister is sharp. He's loaded with energy and has been bucking and kicking in his stall. He's in great shape."

Both colts, who got to Louisville on Monday, are trained by Bob Baffert who has won three Kentucky Derbies with Silver Charm (1997), Real Quiet (1998) and War Emblem (2002).

Slated to arrive at Churchill Downs Tuesday afternoon is Louisiana Derby runner-up Mark Valeski. Trained by Larry Jones for Brereton Jones, the colt is to be accompanied by Horse of the Year Havre de Grace and Kentucky Oaks probable Believe You Can.

Blue Grass Stakes champ Dullahan jogged a mile around Churchill Downs Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. (ET) after arriving on Sunday. He is trained by Dale Romans.
