HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

LOUISIANA DOWNS

LADYZARBRIDGE: Fired a big shot when on the pace and then game battling through the stretch to be second, beaten a neck, on class drop most recently; next time for proven mare.

CUDA LEE: Shook off early pace pressure to drive clear for easy win as the choice when down to $5K-tag level in his first start since last-November; something to build on.

BUTTER BROWN: Was steadied at the break, and then rallied wide to finish a good third in his first start in two months; worth following off $7,5K-claim by trainer T. Richey.

MISS GAGA: Battled on the early pace and weakened in the stretch to finish an acceptable fourth in her first start both with winners and on turf following Feb. 16 debut score; another shot.

GLITTER CANDY: Lightly raced 5YO maiden mare took a major step in the right direction on class rise when third in first career route attempt most recently; next time.

OSIDY AGAIN: Pressed the pace, took over, and maintained clear stretch margin with favored score most recently; proven sort makes it four in a row next time.

4*SPECIAL: WAJIR ON ME: Overcame a tight start and put in a sustained rally to finish second in his first attempt since late-February; proven veteran with 11 career wins can handle anything thrown his way.

LONGSHOT: PRATT STREET: Raced wide and didn’t have needed stretch punch in fifth-place finish most recently, but was back from two-month respite for his first start off claim by trainer S. Wilson; another crack.

CHURCHILL DOWNS

MALIBU DOUBLE: Rated and finished up for third in useful juvenile debut at 4 ½ furlongs; S. Asmussen-trained son of Malibu Moon from a Touch Gold mare should benefit from experience and/or more ground.

WON FOR RANDY: Battled wide with pace and weakened to finish fifth in her first start since last-August; had previously won her last two starts at HOO, and can get back to winning ways now.

YAROSLAV: Had some traffic woes (“blocked, altered path”), according to chart, in his latest third-place finish; 8YO son of Danzig builds upon effort.

MARVEL GAYE: Returned from August-absence with a fifth-place finish in what was likely designed as a 6 ½-furlong leg stretcher for D. Stewart trainee; went well here last year.

TOXIS: Rallied through some trouble to pick up second when back on preferred dirt strip following tries at TP and more recently KEE: headed in right direction for S. Margolis barn.

GOLDEN CAUSEWAY: Gave an even account for fourth in just his second start since January most recently; relatively quick return proves the key now.

SWEET JODY: Rallied for third over sloppy ground when making her first start off claim by trainer J. Woodard (25% this year); keeps good form.

CAPTAIN GENIUS: Made the pace from outside post position (10 of 10) in his racing debut over sloppy ground, and ultimately settled for third behind dominant winner; next time.

ASHLEE’S MOM: Could only manage sixth of 10 with wide spot as the favorite for her first start since February; another chance off claim by trainer J. Woodard.

4*SPECIAL: INDIAN ICICLE: Outran her 21-1 tote price for racing debut when she battled on pace, dropped back, and came again to be third in blanket finish; follow daughter of Indian Charlie.

LONGSHOT: LEARN THE LINGO: Gave chase inside to no avail when fifth in her latest by way of TAM; primed for upcoming third start of current form cycle, she can surprise given strength of her race two back.
