HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

LOUISIANA DOWNS

PALM ROAD: Rallied after tipping outside and gained second in a good bid most recently; 3YO has been on the board in six of nine career attempts, so include on your tickets.

MAVS ELYANA: Showed marked improvement with switch to turf and route for her third lifetime start in setting the pace and staying on for third; another shot with maidens.

J. BURLE: Chased and weakened a bit in fair fourth-place finish in return to turf most recently; proven sort merits inclusion in gimmicks and can offer value for W. Fite barn (19% this year).

COUSIN KEVIN: Rated, moved to command, and stayed on for neck score over 10 rivals in his latest; hit lifetime top on “fig” scale, and can keep moving forward now.

STORMING JOHN: Made the pace and stayed on until very late when second, beaten a half-length, in good try most recently; primed for upcoming third start of current form cycle.

LINNIE LAURINE: Rated outside just off the pace, took over, and drew out to lengthy maiden score most recently; right back with winners.

4*SPECIAL: SPUN RIBBON: Well-bred daughter of Hard Spun seems to be finding her way nicely now with a win and second-place finish over course of her last couple; stepped up on move to dirt most recently.

LONGSHOT: IN JACK’S MEMORY: Chased the pace and stayed on for third in good try getting back to turf most recently; can still offer value.

ELLIS PARK

MY LOST SILVER: Rallied, was bumped, and came up second best in good effort off brief respite when in from CD most recently; next time for C. Bowman trainee.

OL ARMY: Made the pace and stayed on to finish a strong second with blinkers added in return to fast track for his latest; graduation awaits now.

I’AM TOORIFIC: Returned to better form when able to battle on the pace and stay on to finish a close fourth in turf return from December-layoff most recently; stay on board.

YANKEE UNION: Made the pace and rolled clear for easy win at odds-on most recently; can advance through next allowance condition, and perhaps beyond.

YALLAH LEAH: Gained late to finish fourth, beaten less than two lengths, when back to turf for her latest; proven veteran mare worth using in gimmicks.

SETON HALL: Put in a wide run to gain second behind runaway winner in his latest, when making first start since late-June; follow son of Lion Heart from I. Wilkes barn.

BIRMAN: Lagged early and gave a belated run to finish fifth in his latest; capable of more, but does need pace/race luck to go in his favor to set up late punch.

SCARIFF ISLAND: Rallied through traffic and was up for third when in from CD for drop in class most recently; 7YO gelding gets back in win column before long.

IMPLICATE: Chased wide and tired to finish fourth when making just her second start since March; takes another step forward for C. Bowman barn next time.

4*SPECIAL: ROYAL DEHERE: Went favored off CD debut and showed improvement with second-place finish after he dueled throughout here in latest; graduation day next time.

LONGSHOT: ALL BY CHANCE: Chased outside and weakened to finish fourth in her first start back from June win at CD; race over course moves her forward for trainer Larry Jones (27% wins this year).
