HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PHILADELPHIA (PARX RACING)

RISQUE MATTERS: Three year old colt came out running last out, set a solid pace into the lane and dug in well to the wire to finish a solid second to the odds-on favorite, very tough right back with NW2L $7.5k claimers.

CARRIED AWAY: Has now had two starts with similar results, good early speed for a brief time and stopping to finish up the track, well bred four year old filly should be given one more chance at what should be a better price, tab.

ITS TIME FOR LIME: Moved up to face maiden special weights last out after closing well to finish third in his debut versus $25k maiden claimers, stalked the sharp pace from fourth, moved to get into second at the top of the lane but tired to finish fourth late, all set now.

BIRD’S I D: Has been in good form of late with 3 wins from the last 7 tries, was outrun early on behind some very solid fractions and closed some ground in the lane to finish fourth behind the three speed horses, tab right back.

SPIT SPAT SPEIGHT: Speedy four year old was making just his second start off the March layoff last out, showed good early speed last out but tired in the lane when it counted to finish fifth, is very dangerous on the lead and barn is having a great year, tab right back at a better price.

BEST BET: HOWMUCHTHEBESTISHE: Sent off at 2-1 for his debut against $40k maiden claimers, was outrun early on behind decent early pace, started to move into the lane and closed strongly to finish second, three year old by Afleet Alex should improve off his debut run and can move up and score against maiden special weights.

LONGSHOT: TALK FOR SALE: Was making just her second career start last out stretching out in distance to one mile, sent off at 46-1 again for second consecutive start, was outrun some early on after delaying the start, raced wide and gained some ground late to finish fourth, just a nose off the place spot; the price will be right.

WOODBINE

AFTER DINNER: Four year old gelding has always showed sharp early speed but only lasted to finish in the money twice before in his previous eight tries, in his ninth race last out, he cleared from post 11, set a solid pace into the lane and held well to just miss at 57-1; is a threat to take them all the way next out.

HIS RACE TO WIN: Well bred runner was sent off at 9-1 for his debut run, broke from post 12 last out, stalked the early pace from fifth, started to move on the turn and finished well late for third, improves off that effort and may have a future ahead of him.

SEELEY’S BAY: Three year old gelding broke from the rail last out, was off slowly but moved up quickly and made a bid into the turn dueling from the inside but gave way late at 24-1; the price will be right next out in his second try with winners.

OPENING MEET: Four year old gelding settled off the early pace last out racing in 8th behind moderate splits, made a wide move on the far turn and finished well for fourth at 6-1; backclassy runner was making just his second start off a November layoff and should be all set now.

BEAUTIFUL POSSE: Two year old filly showed good speed in her debut, set a solid pace into the lane and tired to finish fourth at 10-1, should improve off that effort and can lead them all the way next out versus $32k maiden claimers.

BEST BET: FIGHTING CHRIS: Sent off at 6-1 in his debut, made a move to go from fifth to get into second behind the runaway wire to wire winner before tiring to finish fourth, should improve big time off that effort, respect right back.

LONGSHOT: MY NAME IS MICHAEL: Didn’t take much money for his debut going off at 32-1; was outrun early on behind solid early fractions and closed some ground late to finish a close-up fifth behind the even money favorite, should improve with more ground, follow right back off that effort.
