Acclamation recovering from injury
By: SPORTS NETWORK
Del Mar, CA (Sports Network) - Champion thoroughbred Acclamation continues to improve from a ligament injury. The 6-year-old, trained by Don Warren, is recovering from a strained ligament of the left front leg.
"He looks real good," Warren said. "But it's such a rare little injury, as long as we've been in the business we haven't seen anything that lets us know how these things react. We're trying to put our heads together and make the right decision."
Acclamation was unable to defend his 2011 Pacific Classic victory due to the injury.
Co-owned by Bud Johnston, Acclamation began 2012 with a victory in the Charles Whittingham on June 12 at Hollywood Park, his third straight in the race. The Eclipse Award winner then notched his second straight win in the Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar on July 21 for his seventh consecutive victory.
Acclamation, the 2011 older male champion, has won 11 of 30 career starts for $1,958,048.
