HORSES TO WATCH

TURFWAY PARK

BAHIM: Battled on the pace and stayed for third in fair try when up in class making his first start off claim by trainer T. Richardson; stay on board.

CANDY MELODY: Raced with the pace, took over, and drove clear to a 1 ½-length win as the choice for her latest; can build upon return from late-May layoff.

DESI GIRL: Chased the pace and weakened to finish fifth when tried on synthetic for the first time in her latest; race over course could help matters.

ELLIDAY: Raced wide and evenly in acceptable fourth-place finish at long odds when in from RD for her latest; does own three wins over synthetic ground, and is likely to offer value in return.

EUROPA ROYALE: Rated, rallied, and drove clear for a three-length score on move back to synthetic (two-for-nine, and three-for-34 elsewhere) most recently; takes another.

HANCHO: Took the first turn wide from tough post (9 of 9) when in from MNR for his latest, and managed third at long odds; use in gimmicks, likely to offer value.

MAGICAL STORM: Battled on the pace and stayed on to finish a close third when once again back on relatively short notice for his latest; value play to get elusive third lifetime win.

SCOTT’S POND: Chased and weakened a bit to finish third in her latest, but at least showed some improvement in course return making just her second start since late-June; can step forward.

WEAGLE: Shot clear on pace and held two-length stretch advantage, only to surrender late and finish third, beaten a length, as the choice, in his latest; atones next time.

4*SPECIAL: ARTISTIC DESIGN: Rated just off the pace, moved to lead in the stretch, and battled in the lane to come up second best, beaten a neck, in his racing debut; follow.

LONGSHOT: PATHOKI: Shot clear on the pace, maybe have rolled a bit too quick, and weakened in the lane to finish third in his course return by way of MNR; can offer value for upcoming third start of form cycle.

 

PENN NATIONAL

CAPTAIN JEFF: Made the pace and stayed on to finish second at long odds when getting back to turf most recently; has served notice, but demand some value as latest came at 26-1 tote price.

GAMBARU: Chased throughout and came up second best behind blowout winner when in from MTH for his latest; next time.

MR. BARRACUDA: Blasted to a clear pace and squandered a large lead, but stayed on to finish second, beaten a neck, in his latest; proven veteran has been in exacta in 38 of 95 lifetime trips.

POWER LADY: Lived up to favored billing for her debut when she made the pace and drew out over five rivals to score by 11 ¾ lengths; juvenile daughter of Discreet Cat to follow for trainer John Servis.

T.T. TANGO: Gained steadily for third when switched to turf and tried with winners for the first time in her latest; plenty to build on for M. Salvaggio Jr. barn.

4*SPECIAL: THE COGNAC KID: Rallied wide to be in range in the lane and came up empty when it counted to settle for third in his latest; proven sort can fire better shot in third start of current form cycle.

LONGSHOT: DR. GOLDFARB: Added blinkers for first local start, made the pace, and gave way to finish fifth; might offer some value for upcoming second start back from July-layoff.
