HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PHILADELPHIA (PARX RACING)

STEALING SARATOGA: Broke from the tough rail post last out when sent off at 31-1, chased the sharp pace from the inside but couldn’t get to the leaders checking in fourth late going five furlongs, an outside post may help his cause and will offer value.

CAPTAIN DADDY: Was outrun early on and forced to come from off the pace last out closing to finish third in a quickly run race, likes this track and is sharp form.

COLORADO GUY WINS: Three year old colt has now won 3 out of his last 5 races running his total to 4 wins from 13 starts, has some tactical speed and should be used right back, tab.

DOUBLE DOWN VINMAN: Was outrun for the lead last out and was forced to chase throughout never really making an impact and tiring in the lane to finish fourth, about 10 lengths off the winner, was claimed and can return to the winners’ circle if he can clear off early on, tab.

VICTORY TALE: Sent off at 3-1 in his debut against $15k claimers, got a nice stalking spot early on in third, moved to take over into the lane and drew away late to score by almost four lengths, was claimed by shrewd barn and must be followed back with winners.

BEST BET: PRYCE’S POSSE: Shipped in from Arlington Park off some nice turf and synthetic races, was outrun some early on in a conventional dirt sprint but closed nicely on the turn and finished up well to score going away; respect right back off that solid effort.

LONGSHOT: AWESOME REVIEW: Moved up a bit and stretched back out in distance, was sent to the lead early on, got away with reasonable splits, held that lead into the lane but couldn’t hold on for the win settling for second at 42-1; follow right back off that effort.

TURF PARADISE

LIVIN’ LOVIN’ MAN: Four year old gelding by obscure sire Ironman Dehere was making his debut last out and wasn’t entered for the optional $30k maiden claimer, sent off at 15-1, he saved ground from that inside post and finished well to just miss by ¾’s of a length while almost 10 clear of the show horse, follow right back.

JESTINTIME: Was coming off a win going a two turn mile two back, turned back in distance to 6 ½ furlongs, set the early pace while under pressure through a half in 45:3 and tired some late to finish third to the heavy favorite, all set now at many distances.

SOUTHERN SCULPTOR: Four year old gelding loves this turf course, went off form back in May and June when shipped to Hollywood Park, was given some time off and returned here with a solid closing second to run his record to one win and three seconds from four starts, tab.

FIT AND AWESOME: Five year old gelding shipped in from Fairplex for his last start, stalked the leaders from third, moved up to take over in deep stretch scoring over the odds-on favorite, can get a few in a row now.

THOMAS BAINES: Was battling head to head for the lead last out over the turf through a good half in 47:2, came very wide into the lane and was game to the wire but had to settle for third late just a length off the winner, stay close.

BEST BET: BULLITTONE: Was off since May heading into his last start, chased a very sharp early pace but couldn’t get to the 1-5 winning favorite and tired some late to finish third, was working very well heading into this race and can be poised for a solid meeting.

LONGSHOT: CHK CHK BOOM: Was off for about 10 months heading into her last start, she added blinkers back on, showed some brief speed but tired in the lane to finish sixth at 11-1; should improve off that effort and the price will be right.
