Violence vanquishes field in CashCall Futurity

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Inglewood, CA (Sports Network) - Post-time favorite Violence remained undefeated with a late running victory in Saturday's $750,000 CashCall Futurity at Hollywood Park. The 2-year-old is a stablemate of Breeders' Cup Juvenile champ Shanghai Bobby.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Violence went off as the 6-5 favorite in the 11- horse field with Breeders' Cup Juvenile runner-up He's Had Enough the 7-2 second pick. Really Mr Greely was the 7-1 third choice with the rest of the field at double-digit odds.

Ridden again by Javier Castellano, Violence was racing off the pace that was being set by a quintet of horses. The favorite began to advance along the inside on the far turn and moved into second from the outside turning for home.

Leading at the top of the stretch was 16-1 longshot Fury Kapcori. Violence reeled the leader in down the stretch and easily went by him with 100 yards to run. The favorite posted a length win over Fury Kapcori with 13-1 longshot Den's Legacy holding on to third.

Rounding out the order of finish were Oxbow, He's Had Enough, Carving, Dirty Swagg, Little Jerry, Really Mr Greely, Simon Eyes and Title Contender.

Violence covered the 1 1/16-miles in 1:43.50 on Hollywood Park's synthetic main track.

Owned by Black Rock Thoroughbreds, Violence recorded his biggest payday by winning the 32nd CashCall Futurity. The victory was worth $450,000 to bring the colt's earnings to $618,000 as he remains perfect in three starts.

Violence registered a two-length victory in the Nashua Stakes on Nov. 4 at Aqueduct. The colt made his debut at Saratoga with a neck win with Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez riding.

Violence returned $4.40, $4.20 and $3.40. Fury Kapcori paid $10.40 and $6.20, and Den's Legacy paid $6.40 to show.
