HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PHILADELPHIA (PARX RACING)

TULLEY: Just broke his maiden two back against statebred $10k claimers, moved up to face off against NW2L $7.5k claimers last out, was outrun early on behind moderate splits and finished well to just get up for second behind the runaway winner, tab right back.

CRIME TIME: Was making his third start last out, was way behind early on for over a ½ mile, started a move while wide into the turn and closed well to just miss the place spot by a head checking in third as the longest shot on the board, 35-1; give him a look right back with $25k maiden claimers.

DODGY: Turned back in distance last out, got away near the back of the pack, made a good move to get into second at the top of the lane but tired to fifth when it counted, could be all set now.

FERSMILEY: Speedy gelding now has two wire to wire wins in a row after setting solid fractions both times, improving sort is ready for better now and must be respected versus any kind.

PERFECT WIND: Was off since his debut back in August at Monmouth, took plenty of money going off as the 5-2 favorite, stalked the leaders from fourth early and then made a good move to take over and score going away by six lengths, follow right back with winners.

BOURBON KITTY: Shipped in sharp from Churchill Downs for her last start, got away near the back of the pack and finished up well through the lane to finish second behind the odds-on choice, her turn next out.

BEST BET: ANN’S SMART DANCER: Loves this track, as she has all five of her wins here, got away in fifth while wide, moved up to challenge the leader but couldn’t go with the leaders late tiring to finish third at 5-1; follow.

LONGSHOT: CARRIED AWAY: Has shown some speed in all of her starts now but just doesn’t finish as she checked in a well beaten seventh again last out, needs a drop into a maiden claimer and can key a nice mutuel at that level.

TURF PARADISE

IRONHOUSE: Took a needed drop into a NW2L $8k claimer last out, got away in third early on behind sharp fractions and finished up well for second just missing by ¾’s of a length; fits at this level.

EL CAPONE: Was coming off an October layoff last out and was part of a 3-2 favored entry heading into the race, got away in fourth and stayed on evenly to check in fourth late, could be ready to roll next out.

ARTISTIC VENTURE: Very speedy gelding has opened up a clear lead in the last three tries but has given them up most recently going 6 ½ furlongs, will be very tough to catch with a turnback to six furlongs.

SERVICE HAWK: Took a slight drop in class last out into a restricted claimer, got away in 8th, was very wide to the top of the lane and finished strongly to just miss at 16-1; still offers value right back even with a bump in class.

LAURA BEASLEY: Was outrun in just her second start back off a year layoff last out when she went back to the turf, was still far back around the turn and checked in fifth late in a race dominated by the speed; all set now on either surface.

BEST BET: GRANDPA GEORGE: Was coming off a September layoff last out in a race that he was claimed out of, chased the pace over the turf to the top of the lane but couldn’t go on with it late checking in fourth, handles all surfaces so the connections have options.

LONGSHOT: FASTBALL: An improving sort broke his maiden two back against basement maiden claimers, tried winners last out while trying the turf for the first time and didn’t run badly checking in fourth after pressing the pace, either surface.
