Media Eclipse Award goes to feel good story
By: SPORTS NETWORK
New York, NY (Sports Network) - ESPN's news-magazine show E:60 has won the 2012 Media Eclipse Award in the Television-Features programming category for "Notinrwildestdremz". The feature, produced and directed by Heather Lombardo, told the story of a rescued and neglected thoroughbred filly who recovers to become a racehorse.
"It's a great honor to win an Eclipse Award," said Lombardo, a Features Manager at ESPN. "To be recognized on the same night as the elite horses and people who make a historical impact on Thoroughbred racing is a huge thrill."
"Notinrwildestdremz" was written and narrated by Bill Nack, a seven-time Media Eclipse Award winner and aired on Oct. 30. The feature was edited by Tim Horgan and Matt McCormick of Bluefoot Entertainment. The cameramen were Tony Melfi, Kevin Raullerson Bryan Brousseau and Phil Iglesias. Andy Tennant is the executive producer of E:60.
The Eclipse Awards are voted upon by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers And Broadcasters. The 42nd annual Eclipse Awards will be presented on Saturday, January 19 at Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
