Elliott gets back into the winner's circle

By: Sports Network

Oceanport, NJ (Sports Network) - Less than 24 hours after losing the

Belmont Stakes aboard Smarty Jones, jockey Stewart Elliott guided another

three-year- old to victory at

Monmouth Park.

Forest Music led every step of the way Sunday in winning the $55,000

Crank It Up Stakes. With Elliott in the saddle, Forest Music covered the

five-furlongs in a time of 56 4/5 seconds. The race, originally scheduled

for the turf course, was run on the main track due to rain.

The final margin of victory was 1 1/2 lengths. Finishing second was Schedule

followed by Forty Moves, Whirlwind, Cape Trafalgar, Bikini Wiggle and

Ms. Trick Or Treat. Forest Music and Cape Trafalgar ran as a single entry.

Forest Music is owned by Michael Gill and trained by Mark Shuman. The

filly has won three of six career starts for $110,676. The Crank It Up

Stakes win was worth $33,000.

Forest Music returned $3.40, $2.40 and $2.10. Schedule paid $3.60 and

$2.40, and Forty Moves paid $2.40 for show.

The victory on Forest Music was Stewart Elliott's only win on Sunday. He

is one of the leading riders at Monmouth Park early in the track's

2004 season. He earlier posted a pair of third place finishes.
