HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

AQUEDUCT

QUARK: Has run two races over the inner track, moved into contention down the backside but didn’t have anything left in the drive to finish seventh and last, follow this runner with a turnback in distance, especially at a big price.

STELLALUCE: Six year old mare raced wide throughout when not racing that far off the lead, made a move to get into further contention at the top of the lane but stayed on for fourth at 34-1, this runner knows how to win and the price will be right even with a slight drop in class.

CAT FERRAD: Six year old mare came out of the gate running last out, pressed the leader right from the start and tired in the drive to finish fifth at 23-1; a drop in class makes her very tough to beat, tab.

JOKING: Was making his first start since his maiden win back in October at Belmont, was outrun for the better part of the race but closed well through the lane to finish third at 7-1 behind the two favorites, well bred runner has shown that he can sprint but shouldn’t have a problem stretching out as well.

BELLAMY STORM: Was sent off at 7-1 in his debut, came out of the gate running, set the pace into the lane but was overtaken late to just miss, will be very tough right back, even with a stretchout in distance.

BLUE SIXTY FOUR: Five year old mare raced evenly in her return from a May layoff, fits with NW2L $12.5k claimers and could offer a square price right back, stay close.

REIN KING: Cleared the lead from post 8 last out, set some solid fractions throughout, held that lead into the lane but couldn’t finish it off checking in fourth, a turnback into a sprint is in order.

CIRCADIA: Doesn’t have much of a resume but did finish a decent third two back and then ran into some trouble last out before checking in sixth at 40-1; give him a shot next out and is a must use in all exotics especially at long odds.

LUCIA’S DREAM: Five year old mare showed more speed last out pressing the half in 46:4, couldn’t go with the leaders after that and tired to finish seventh, needs a drop into a maiden claimer to show her best, tab.

PRIVATE TALE: Sat a good trip in behind the speed, angled off the rail and looked like he had a chance to go by but just didn’t have the kick and checked in third late, is better around one turn, follow.

BEST BET: LIGHT WEIGHT: Took plenty of money for her debut going off at 5-2 and the slight favorite at post time, showed good early speed for about a half mile and tired in the lane to finish 10th, may have needed that race and the experience should help her right back, tab.

LONGSHOT: GIULIO’S JEWEL: Sent off at 10-1 in her debut, she chased the sharp favored leader through a half mile in 45:3, couldn’t sustain that run and tired to finish seventh and last, well bred runner should improve off that effort and is one to watch right back.

OAKLAWN PARK

BET YOUR BOOTS: Has been breezing in the a.m. for a return to the races for a top stable, has the backclass to call on and must be respected with lower level claimers.

ETHELA: Three year old filly by Henrythenavigator ran an even seventh in her debut at Turfway Park, hails from the Eoin Harty barn and is working towards a win here at Oaklawn, stay close.

SARK: Well bred runner has been off since November for D. Wayne Lukas, has a good race over this track last year and could be set for a big one at a nice price, don’t dismiss.

OVERTHEHUMP: Showed a nice breeze on January 8th as he readies for the upcoming meeting, has run a few good races over this track but has yet to get a win, in the right barn and look for him to come out running.

KATE’S MAIN MAN: Hard hitting eight year old gelding has earned almost $600,000 in his career and needs to put his poor 2012 behind him, is breezing for a return and is a must follow.

ON LOCKDOWN: Has a big maiden win over this track and follow that up with another win towards the end of the meeting last year, is back where he likes it best and should be very tough next out.

BEST BET: ALL ABOUT ALLIE: Five year old mare loves to win and loves this track, shows some nice works in the morning and should come out firing for her first try in 2013, follow closely next out.

LONGSHOT: INDULGE ME: Didn’t do much running in her two starts over this track last spring, has been away since April and is working with a purpose in the a.m., should be a solid price on the board so give her a shot.
