HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

THISTLEDOWN

CHARM THE ANGELS: Showed more speed than usual in latest – clearly brought about by stretch out in distance – and

stayed on for third; barn has some options now.

CINDY LOU TWO: Dropped in class and blasted clear early before fading late and settling for second in latest; catches right

group at NW2L level before long.

DICKY: Has shown improved early speed over the course of his last two starts, although he failed as the favorite in his

latest; atones quickly.

FULL SPEED AHEAD: Brings high early speed to any lower-end claiming sprint; faded in latest, but merits respect in similar

spots going forward.

GRIND THE BLUES: Has finished on the board in nine of 18 career starts, and has done a fair job of holding form versus

allowance foes over course of last three; stay close.

LINJACK’S LEGACY: Chased the pace and took over to post latest win at price of more than 10-1; don’t label it a fluke, tab

her for a repeat score.

SILVER ALARM: Has failed as choice of late, but now figures adjusted to local scene and ready to make up with favorite

players; gelding brings winning profile.

TRIPLE APPEAL: Has yet to get in the winner’s circle in six tries this year, but has a knack for bringing back checks; in

exacta 28 times, so respect veteran mare.

TWO K MAMBO: Set pace and tired in latest, but when making just his second start since lengthy layoff; can improve in a

hurry under trainer Hollendorfer’s guidance.

VANILLA EXTRACT: Middle moved to contention then continued evenly in her latest; veteran mare can do better and merits

inclusion in gimmicks given likely value.

4STARSPECIAL: BEYOND REASONING: Raced evenly throughout latest, but prior pair of starts in which she showed

more early speed suggest she can do better; another chance.

LONGSHOT: WAR ROOM: Now has two races versus winners under her saddle and can improve quickly going

forward; don’t ignore.

PIMLICO

ABSOLUTE ROCKS: Chased wide and gave way when switched to turf for the first time in latest – note, demanding spot in first

start off break, and watch for next time.

ARE YOU THERE: Rallied wide to best nine opponents at odds-on in latest – a long overdue maiden score – and now must be

respected going forward.

ATTIC: Have always loved this filly, who finished second as the favorite in her latest, and has now been in the exacta in 11 of 14

career starts; a must-use.

DATA STREAM: Chased wide and proved willing for third when taking class drop for latest; only a matter of time at present

level now.

DOUST: Chased and gave way in off-the-turf race when making his first start since October ’02; note, French-bred gelding took

plenty of tote play and bears watching on turf now.

GARRET: Chased and tried to rally over a very sloppy track which aided front runners; note, fourth-place finish better than it looks

on paper.

KISS ME KATIE: Typically shows early speed, but was able to rate and finish for win from wide spot off the pace in

latest; right back.

MAX’S BUDDY: Pressed hot pace and stayed on for third in his first start since last-November; note, five-furlong race featured new

course record of 55 4/5 seconds set by Yankee Wildcat.

P S IT’S AMERICAN: Took plenty of tote play in latest off-the-turf try over sloppy ground but could only manage fifth; winning

Dale Capuano barn finds right spot.

PARADE OF MUSIC: Chased the pace while wide and proved willing for third when making his first start following claim by trainer

Schoenthal; some big back "figs."

4STARSPECIAL: CEVICHE: Hasn’t had the smoothest of trips since move to turf course two starts back; could now be primed

for aggressive spot on the main track for shrewd Gaudet barn.

LONGSHOT: PROMENADE AGAIN: Returned to turf for latest, and chased before fading and finishing sixth; lightly raced 4YO can

still improve – turf or dirt.
