Sunday marks return of Went the Day Well

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Ozone Park, NY (Sports Network) - Nearly 10 months since last competing in a race, Spiral Stakes winner Went the Day Well will run in an allowance optional claiming event at Aqueduct on Sunday.

Trained by Graham Motion, Went the Day Well has been entered in Aqueduct's second race Sunday afternoon versus five geldings. The mile 70 yards race has a purse of $59,000 with the colt starting from the outside post with Junior Alvarado riding. He's been training in Florida at Palm Meadows Training Center.

The 4-year-old colt, owned by Team Valor, last raced in the 137th Preakness Stakes on May 19 when he finished 10th more than 30-lengths behind I'll Have Another.

After being brought over from England as a 3-year-old, Went the Day Well won his second start in the United States and then captured the Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park.

He finished a fast closing fourth in the Kentucky Derby as a 30-1 longshot.

Went the Day Well begins his 4-year-old campaign with two wins and two seconds for $415,345.
