Full field expected for 89th Blue Grass Stakes

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Rebel Stakes winner Will Take Charge is expected to lead a full field of 14 3-year-olds into the starting the gate in this year's $750,000 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday, April 13.

Trained by Hall of Fame member D. Wayne Lukas, Will Take Charge won both the Smarty Jones and Rebel Stakes this winter at Oaklawn Park. Ridden by Jon Court, the colt finished sixth in the Southwest Stakes at the Arkansas track.

Owned by Willis Horton, Will Take Charge has 60 points in the Kentucky Derby points race. He has earnings of $545,371 with three wins in seven lifetime starts,

Spiral Stakes runner-up Uncaptured is also expected to start in the 89th Blue Grass. Trained by Mark Casse, the colt used the Spiral as his 2013 debut after resting since winning the Kentucky Jockey Club and Iroquois last year at Churchill Downs.

Other probable starters in the 1 1/8-mile Blue Grass are: Charming Kitten, Dewey Square, Dynamic Sky, Falling Sky, Fear the Kitten, Footbridge, Java's War, Noble Tune, Reporting Star, Rydilluc, Tesseron, Tiz a Minister, Undrafted, and War Academy.
