Last two races of Derby Championship Series

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Saturday's Blue Grass Stakes and Arkansas Derby will mark the end of the Second Leg of the Kentucky Derby Championship Series.

Each 1 1/8-mile stakes offers 100 points for first, 40 for second, 20 for third and 10 for fourth as part of the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" points system.

Several horses already in the Kentucky Derby Top 20 are entered on Saturday in an attempt to solidify their positions in the starting field on May 4.

"I think both horses have a legitimate chance to win the Blue Grass," said Norman Casse, assistant trainer for Uncaptured and Dynamic Sky, "which is pretty exciting. Hopefully both of them can hit the board and we'll have a chance to have two horses in the Kentucky Derby."

After Saturday's races there will be two more opportunities to acquire points. Next week will be the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland and one week before the Run for the Roses will be the Derby Trial at Churchill Downs. As Wild Card races, points will be awarded to the top 4 finishers in the Lexington and Derby Trial on a 20-8-4-2 scale.
