Napravnik gains mount on Mylute

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Louisiana Derby runner-up Mylute will be reacquainted with jockey Rosie Napravnik in the Kentucky Derby. The 3-year- old is trained by Tom Amoss for GoldMark Farm and Whisper Hill Farm,

Mylute was ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan in the Louisiana Derby but had Napravnik in the saddle for his last victory in December. The colt has two wins and three seconds in nine career starts.

Amoss will train Mylute up to the Derby on May 4 after the colt had a workout Sunday at Churchill Downs.

"If anybody was interested in Mylute as a Derby prospect, today's work was the one they needed to see," Amoss said Sunday after the colt worked six furlongs in 1:12 1/5. "It was a serious work and he looked very good. Mylute is going to do nothing to impress anyone in his next two works. He's going to work by himself and they are going to be slow and easy half-mile works. Today's work was an indication of where we are with him and we were pleased."

Last year in the Run for the Roses, Napravnik was aboard Pants On Fire when the colt finished ninth behind I'll Have Another. The jockey had won the Kentucky Oaks the day before with Believe You Can.
