Sunday works ahead for Pletcher contenders

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Trainer Todd Pletcher's five Kentucky Derby contenders are taking it easy this week before putting in final workouts for the 139th Run for the Roses on May 4 at Churchill Downs.

Verrazano, Revolutionary, Overanalyze, Palace Malice and Charming Kitten are all set for workouts on Sunday in preparation for the 1 1/4-mile Kentucky Derby.

Verrazano and Revolutionary both jogged on the track Tuesday morning while Overanalyze and Palace Malice galloped around the oval. Charming Kitten also galloped Tuesday as Pletcher prepares the colt for a possible start in the Derby.

Charming Kitten, third in the Blue Grass Stakes, is 21st on the Kentucky Derby points list. Joe Bravo rode the colt in the Blue Grass but the trainer noted that nothing has been firmed up for the Derby as to the jockey.
