HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

BELMONT

CABOT TRAIL: Made a strong run at the leader last out through some very quick splits and came up empty in the drive

finishing fifth. Was claimed that day and should be given another shot right back.

CONNIE’S MAGIC: Was an even fifth last out chasing a solid field of $30k claimers and this veteran may need a drop in class to

get the job done.

COURRIEL: Stalked the leaders early on, found room at the top of the stretch and went on for an easy victory over maiden claimers.

The drop helped last out but should be followed with winners next out.

EDDIE THE SPOUSE: Showed much improved speed last out in his second start but still came up empty in the drive. A stretchout in

distance should get the job done.

FINERY: Broke a step slow last out and never made an impact while trying the turf. Should have gained conditioning from that race and

a switch back to the dirt is welcomed.

FULL FLOW: Was an easy winner last out in an off the turf race scoring over a few main track only horses. Veteran is one to follow back

on the turf, his preferred surface.

KUANYAN: Did not run her best race last out over a sloppy surface and should be followed right back on turf or dirt.

MISS BERGDORF: Raced evenly last out after making a move to get into position. Once promising prospect should be respected.

ON RYE: Closed well to finish third at 49-1 last out behind the two favorites and should be used in all exotics at a price.

PLEASANT HOME: Well bred Phipps’ homebred looked good breaking her maiden last out and is one to follow right back with winners.

POKER JOE: Raced wide and green throughout when making debut and was right there with the leaders before tiring to finish fifth. Tab

next out with that race under his belt.

TEXAS PRO: Was right up on the pace last out chasing some solid fractions and tired to fourth. Should be much tighter next out.

UPTURN: Has been on fire since claimed by the Dutrow Jr barn and must be respected with high-level claimers.

WIND GLIDER: Hard to believe that this 3YO has not won since shipping to New York but his speed will get him there sooner rather

than later.

4STARSPECIAL: GUIDE: Had another failed effort on the dirt last out when she took good money at the windows and a switch to

the turf will benefit her.

LONGSHOT: BROADWAY LADY: Very well bred filly needed her first race off the layoff but did not race well last out second off the layoff.

Give this one another try at a price.

ELLIS PARK

CHIEF CALEB: Dueled between foes throughout but held his position well finishing third with condition allowance foes. The price will be

right next out, tab.

CLASSIC DEVIL: Forced the pace while racing five wide and tired to finish an even fourth last out. Will make it tough if he can make the

lead early on.

LOVINGLY: Was outrun for half the race while racing between horses, came wide with her run and finished third. Try this one right

back on a dry surface.

MORROW: Was sent right to the lead from the start, battled on the inside but could not hold off the favorite, holding well for the

place spot.

PRETTY JANE: Stumbled at the start, raced wide but still took over for an easy score. May be better on the turf so stay close.

REDEYED CHARMER: Stumbled badly at the start, was unhurried after that and then came with a six wide run to just miss by a

head. A clean break leads to victory.

SILVER WENCH: Battled head to head for the lead but could not go on with it and tired to fourth. Better suited to turf sprints.

THE LOOPER: Has some hang in him but looked good scoring on the dirt last out. Look for his connections to stay on this surface.

TINA BULL: Got the job done over the favorite last out against money allowance company and the time of the race was very good.

Look for this horse in the entry sheet, sharp now.

WILD ABOUT JON: Was quickly clear to the lead through some solid splits and held well for second behind the favorite. 2YO takes

it all the was at Ellis.

4STARSPECIAL: JUMP FOR JOYEUX: Dueled early on, took over for a clear lead and tired in the drive. Was claimed from that

race and must be respected in first try off the claim.

LONGSHOT: CATALINDY: Was much improved last out, showing better speed and holding on well for the maiden score. Well bred

filly is improving now so follow closely.
