HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

LOUISIANA DOWNS

PETIONVILLE RIDGE: Put in a bid, but had misfortune of trying to play catch-up to blowout winner when second in his latest; likely graduate next time.

GLENDA’S MAHALO: Battled on the pace and lasted for third in an improved try most recently; steps up again in upcoming third start of current form cycle.

JAKE’S TUITION: Turned in a wide run to put herself in contention, only to flatten a bit late when fourth of 10 in her latest; can do more.

IMPERIAL QUEEN: Showed some needed life when third on class drop and switch to turf on June 1; can improve further off her first race in blinkers.

CATHERINE’S LADY: Gained late when third in a blanket finish as the beaten favorite in her latest; atones in upcoming third start back from brief respite.

VOO DOO LOVE: Blasted clear to a 10-length early lead and lasted for a three-quarter-length win most recently; form certainly headed in the right direction.

4*SPECIAL: ARKANSAS MARTINI: Had an inside-out trip for third in his latest; had turned back in distance and moved from turf to dirt for the effort, and figures sharper for experience moving forward.

LONGSHOT: RED SPIRIT: Had some trouble in his latest when fourth of 12, and was able to gain some ground over muddy strip; can still offer value at NW2L level.

CHURCHILL DOWNS

TYRUS: Gained in willing fashion when second as the favorite in logical spot most recently; son of First Samurai very much the one to beat with similar crew next out.

SMARTEN DESTINY: Fought it out on the pace and weakened to fourth behind a blowout winner when making his first start since last-October; worth another shot.

ENDORSEMENT: Chased with an outside bid and managed third of five in his first start since mid-February; veteran with a touch of class has banked nearly $630k in purses.

MISS BROWN SUGAR: Tired to fifth over sloppy ground in off-the-turf try when back from an October-absence; worth a chance on turf next time, as solid E. Kenneally barn had planned.

SILENT PIPE: Showed the way early and weakened when it counted when third in his latest; always room on our tickets for proven veteran with 11 lifetime wins.

TOUCH OF REVENGE: Rallied for elusive second lifetime score in her latest, but seems to now be back at home on dirt; takes another.

FRAT MAN: Showed improved speed and staying power when second best behind 5 ¼-length winner in his latest; durable juvenile gets maiden score in upcoming fourth lifetime start.

IN KELLY’S DEFENSE: Shot free on pace and lasted for neck victory over 10 rivals in her latest; will need to step up her game versus winners now, but wouldn’t mind seeing daughter of First Defence given a shot on turf.

SILVER WINGS: Battled wide on the pace, led in the stretch, and weakened a bit late to finish third when moved to turf for his latest; solid sort worth using.

4*SPECIAL: CALIPARTY: Pressed the pace while wide and managed third in a very useful effort in his first start against winners; next time.

LONGSHOT: MY DAUGHTER’S SONG: Shot free on pace and weakened to fourth over sloppy ground when making her first start off claim/freshening; note, barn showed confidence in picking lofty spot.
