Paynter's return set for Friday at Hollywood Park

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Inglewood, CA (Sports Network) - Haskell Invitational winner Paynter will make his return to the races Friday at Hollywood Park. The 4-year-old colt will start in the 7th race, an allowance event at seven furlongs.

"We are very happy with how Paynter is doing," said Zayat Stables' racing and stallion manager Justin Zayat. "Obviously, seven furlongs is a tough distance for his first race back. But it's time to get him started, and set him up for a big summer."

Trained by Bob Baffert, Paynter will be making his first start since winning last year's Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park, more than 10 months ago. He will be ridden on Friday by Rafael Bejarano

Paynter came down with an infection after winning the Haskell on July 29. His elevated temperature prevented him from coming back to California or shipping to Saratoga for the Travers.

The colt has earned $952,224 in six starts with three wins.
