HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

CALDER

ALL ABOUT YASOM: First-time starter exceeded expectations with a second-place finish at 22-1 after chasing the winner around the track. Well-spotted at $12.5k.

FOREVER NOBLE: Took a nice step forward off the claim with a second-place finish at 9-2. Overdue to get her picture taken.

JILL’S IMAGE: Plenty of chances, but finally showed something when third at 21-1. Let’s see if she could put two good ones together.

LASTER: Took a big step forward in his first try on dirt in an off-the-turfer at fourth asking. Heading in the right direction.

LIBRA FOUR: Broke through with a maiden win at ninth asking at 16-1, then came right back versus winners with a runner-up effort at 35-1. Never been better.

SINGMETOTHEMOON: Showed some speed after breaking slowly in his debut and reported home a well-beaten fourth. Nice effort to build off.

BEST BET: SPECIALNIGHTACTION: Put in a good rally from the back and outgamed a rival to graduate at first asking. Ready for winners.

LONGSHOT: UNO AGAIN: It’s been a long time between drinks, but he continues to sneak into the mix at prices. Can round out a nice exotic at the basement.

NO. CALIFORNIA

CARLNPEARL: Turned in a nice rally from ninth to complete the trifecta at 27-1 in her unveiling. From the Kruljac barn.

DEEP REFLECTION: If you can excuse the occasional clunker and low winning percentage, he’s certainly worth some consideration for the gimmicks. Rock solid basement claimer.

OLD MEMORIES: Finally broke through with a maiden tally in his 15th trip to the post. Classic profile of a horse that puts them back-to-back in first try at the next level; be there.

PANCHO’S VISTA: Has some sneaky form and should come in under the radar following a fifth-place finish at 42-1. You’ve been warned.

SISTER KATE: Front-runner has done very little wrong in her 16-race career. Benchmark mare is as solid as they come.

T. K. FORTYSIX: Winless in 19 tries, but has stepped up his game with a return to grass in his last three. Closer than you think.

TEBOWS BIG PLAY: Stakes-placed gelding is capable over turf and synthetic, and hails from a top barn. Hard not to like.

WARRENS HORNBLOWER: Santa Anita reject has really stepped up his game since shipping to these parts. Keeps up the good work.

BEST BET: VINCENZA: Loves getting her picture taken and has been quite effective going long and short over Golden Gate’s synthetic and turf courses. Firing on all cylinders.

LONGSHOT: CONGRESS WOMAN IVY: Failed to find prior form when returned from lengthy layoff earlier this term, but has been re-freshened for another crack at it. Worth a shot at right price.
