Queen's Plate may attract 13 3-year-olds

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - A field of 13 3-year-olds is shaping up for this year's 154th running of the $1 million Queen's Plate at Woodbine Racecourse. The 1 1/4-mile classic goes off on Sunday, July 7 with an approximate post-time of 5:45 p.m. (ET).

Four of the 13 starters could well come from the barn of trainer Mark Casse. Listed as definite for Casse are Woodbine Oaks runner-up Spring in the Air and Plate Trial winner Dynamic Sky. Listed as possible are Jagger M and Kaigun.

Woodbine Oaks champ Nipissing and stablemate Niigon's Glory are expected from the barn of trainer Rachel Halden.

Here is the complete list of probable and possible Queen's Plate starters with jockeys: County Lineman, no jockey; Dynamic Sky, Joel Rosario; His Race to Win, John Velazquez; Jagger M, no jockey; Kaigun, no jockey; Midnight Aria, Jesse Campbell; Niigon's Glory, Richard Dos Ramos; Nipissing, Steve Bahen; Pyrite Mountain, Luis Contreras; Rackman, no jockey; River Seven, Todd Kabel; Spring in the Air, Joel Rosario and Up With the Birds, Eurico Rosa da Silva.

Jockey Todd Kabel will be going after a third Queen's Plate victory. Kabel previously won aboard Regal Discovery (1995) and Scatter the Gold (2000).

Luis Contreras guided Inglorious to victory two years ago and Steve Bahen won in 2002 with T J's Lucky Moon.
