Leading 3-year-old fillies populate Coaching Club American Oaks

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Saratoga Springs. NY (Sports Network) - Kentucky Oaks winner Princess of Sylmar heads a field of five 3-year-old fillies for Saturday's $300,000 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga Race Course.

Trained by Todd Pletcher for King of Prussia Stable, Princess of Sylmar will be ridden Javier Castellano and start from post 4.

The filly had Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith in the saddle for her half-length victory over Beholder in the Oaks on May 3. This year she also registered wins in the Busanda and Busher Stakes at Aqueduct with a second in the Gazelle at the Queens track.

Princess of Sylmar has banked $827,220 with five wins in seven lifetime starts.

Pletcher also has Unlimited Budget entered in the 1 1/8-mile stakes. Owned by Mike Repole, the filly will break from post 3 with John Velazquez getting the ride.

Unlimited Budget is coming off a sixth-place finish versus the boys in the Belmont Stakes. She had been third in the Kentucky Oaks after season opening wins in the Rachel Alexandra and Fair Grounds Oaks.

She has won four of six career starts for $705,200.

Attempting to break through with just her second career win will be Marathon Lady who will start from the outside post with Robby Albarado riding.

The filly, trained by Steve Hobby, has been on the board in all seven starts with three seconds and a third. Last month, she was third in the Mother Goose at Belmont Park. Owned by Alex Lieblong, Marathon Lady has second-place finishes this year in the Bourbonette Oaks and Black-Eyed Susan Stakes with a third in the Fantasy sandwiched in between.

She has earned $233,100 in her seven starts.

Here is the field in post position order: My Happy Face, Joel Rosario; Cue the Moon, Luis Saez; Unlimited Budget, John Velazquez; Princess of Sylmar, Javier Castellano and Marathon Lady, Robby Albarado.

Post-time for the Coaching Club American Oaks will be approximately 5:45 p.m. (ET).
