HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
LOUISIANA DOWNS
MISSIN HOME: Most recently showed some late gain outside to
pick up fourth and form seems headed in the right direction through three
starts since back from break; sharper next time.
TEXAS CITY THOR: Rallied for second in spite of being
carried six wide turning for home, and appears likely to be able to handle a
similar NW2L group before long; should still offer value.
SAINT BREESY: Needed 11 starts to leave the maiden world,
but was making just her third career start on turf when a strong three-length
winner over 10 opponents in her latest; right back.
SUSPECT SARA: Dueled between rivals and weakened to fourth
in her latest; clear early shake could do the trick with lower-end claiming
types at NW2L level.
GIACOMO SPARKLE: Didn’t have much racing luck when in some
traffic and trying to close into a soft pace when switched to the turf for the
first time in her latest; improves on fourth-place effort.
I’M DEELITEFUL: Switched back to dirt for her latest, she
managed third; can handle both surfaces now, but placing two back could suggest
turf is the better option.
4*SPECIAL: TRAIN TO DESTINY: Rallied outside to pick up
third in his latest, but prior placing showed he is capable of more; best shot
does it with similar crew.
LONGSHOT: VAMOOSE VOMANOSO: Gave a belated rally for fourth
in his latest; often underneath, so a must in exotics, but also a value play to
spring upset.
ELLIS PARK
BIRD COUNTY: Flattened a bit when it counted in third-place
effort most recently, but does appear headed in right direction through three
races of experience; race over course leads to maiden score.
DAKOTA DIM: Managed fourth behind blowout winner when back
from March-layoff, and didn’t have the best racing luck (“bumped start, four
wide”); next time.
BRINK OF WAR: Fought on the pace and stayed on to finish a
close third when in from CD and cut back to sprint trip for his latest; sharper
for next time.
BOW TO NO ONE: Chased in second throughout when able to give
a nice account in her first start since late-April; daughter of Nobiz Like
Shobiz breaks out next time.
RUSTICANA: Raced in tight early, chased from a distance, and
weakened to finish fourth of six in her first start since early-April and just
second start since January; moves forward.
HONEY C: Battled throughout, drifted, and just missed when
second, beaten a nose, in her latest when moved to turf; another shot.
MISTY JO: Gained late for third in good effort when back on
turf for her latest; has been on the board in eight of 13 career starts thus
far.
CAPETOWN REBEL: Gave fair account for third when in with
winners for the first time following solid maiden score on July 5; next time.
PLENTY O’TOOLE: Lived up to favored billing when she raced
just off the pace, took over, and drew out to score by nearly 10 lengths in her
latest; on to bigger and better.
4*SPECIAL: ARCHIE TRUCKER: Chased wide in second throughout
in a game try on July 21 when back on relatively short notice considering he
won off eight-month layoff in prior July 5 start; stays sharp.
LONGSHOT: ROLL N SHINE: Rallied wide and through some
traffic to finish a more than acceptable fifth, beaten just more than three
lengths, in his latest; might light up board.
