Overanalyze versus eight in West Virginia Derby

Chester, WV (Sports Network) - Arkansas Derby winner Overanalyze has drawn the far outside post in a nine-horse field for Saturday's 44th running of the 1 1/8-mile $750,000 West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Park.

The colt will try and give trainer Todd Pletcher another victory in a key stakes race for 3-year-olds. Last weekend, Pletcher sent out Palace Malice and Verrazano to win the Jim Dandy Stakes and Haskell Invitational, respectively.

Overanalyze will be ridden on Saturday for the first time by Rosie Napravnik.

Owned by Mike Repole, Overanalyze is coming off a seventh-place finish behind Palace Malice in the Belmont Stakes. The colt followed his Arkansas win with an 11th in the Kentucky Derby.

Overanalyze posted wins in 2012 in the Futurity at Belmont Park and Remsen at Aqueduct. On March 2 he came in fifth as the 17-10 favorite in the Gotham Stakes behind Vyjack.

The 3-year-old has banked $956,381 with four wins in nine lifetime starts.

Illinois Derby champ Departing will start from post 5 with Robby Albarado also riding the gelding for the first time.

Trained by Al Stall Jr., Departing is making his first start since finishing sixth to Oxbow in the Preakness. After winning his only start as a 2-year-old, he began 2013 with an allowance win at Fair Grounds and a minor stakes victory at Sam Houston Park.

The gelding, owned by Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider, was third in the Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds. He has won four of six career starts for $628,000.
