Itsmyluckyday recovering from injury

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Oceanport, NJ (Sports Network) - Preakness Stakes runner-up Itsmyluckyday is progressing well from the injury he suffered at Monmounth Park this summer.

The 3-year-old colt, trained by Ed Plesa Jr., suffered a fractured ilium during the running of the Pegasus Stakes on Sunday, June 16.

"Itsmyluckyday is doing outstanding," Plesa said. "He's still under stall rest until the first of October. The very end of September we'll send him in for a bone scan to see how that ilium's healing. Mentally he's doing great, physically he looks great so I'm anticipating a big 4-year-old year for him."

Owned by Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa, Itsmyluckyday won the Gulfstream Park Derby and Holy Bull Stakes to begin 2013. He was second to Orb in the Florida Derby before finishing 15th to his rival in the Kentucky Derby.

The 3-year-old colt has five wins in 15 career starts for $830,100.
