HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
PENN NATIONAL
ROBYNS TIME: Chased throughout and managed second behind
five-length winner when favored for her latest; can handle similar NW2L crew,
with a spot on the front end likely to help the cause.
GODDES OF FORTUNE: Chased in second, contended for the lead,
and came up a neck short in stretch battle when second in search of her third
straight score most recently; keeping sharp form.
CALL TIGER: Rated, rallied, and drew out to convincing 2
¼-length score in his latest; veteran with proven resume could take another for
E. Arroyo barn on a major roll (11 wins, 37% this year).
MILITARY WIFE: Turned in game effort for second after
battling on the pace, and outran her 11.30-1 tote price most recently; stays
sharp.
SECRET SKILLS: Set the pace and only weakened late when
third, beaten just three parts of a length, in her latest; major player with
similar cast next time.
4*SPECIAL: E.T. INDY: Stalked the pace, led, and settled for
second best, beaten a neck, in her first start with winners most recently;
lightly raced 4YO filly with brilliant bloodlines still has an upside.
LONGSHOT: REAL REAL SOON: Put in a mild bid and managed only
fifth of eight when in from PRX for his latest; didn’t get much early pace to
attack with late-moving style, and can fare better next time.
WOODBINE
IRATUS LEO: Turned in big middle move to reach contention
when drawn in post position 10 of 11 in latest turf route, and paid the price
when even late in fourth-place finish; sharp try.
A.A. GRENADE: Offered a mild rally for third at long odds in
his latest, and current form now seems headed in the right direction with three
starts back from December-break; maiden win awaits.
SPARKLE AND SHINE: Pressed the pace following an awkward
break and weakened in the lane when fourth of six and beaten as the favorite in
her latest; filly has solid overall record, and can prove useful $16K-claim for
trainer R. Tiller.
HATHAWAY: Gave an improved try with rally for third when
making her second start since last-December most recently; steps forward again
for always dangerous R. Baker barn.
TEN OUT OF A TEN: Couldn’t threaten when fourth as the
favorite in her latest, but prior placing was strong; respect daughter of
Malibu Moon with similar maiden cast next time.
4*SPECIAL: WHERE ISTHE OFFICE: Chased the pace, backed off a
touch, and finished up in fairly even order when a respectable fifth of 10
making her first start against winners; moves up.
LONGSHOT: MOONSHINE MARTINI: Took the overland route and
gained third of 11 in good try when back at appropriate class level for his
latest; can still offer value.
