Phipps family member joins Keeneland board

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Daisy Phipps Pulito, part owner and racing manager of Phipps Stable, along with four others are the newest members of Keeneland's Advisory Board of Directors.

Joining Phipps Pulito on the board are Ian Banwell, Luther Deaton Jr., Pope McLean Jr. and Bill Shively. The five will begin their service immediately.

"We are pleased to welcome our newest board members and appreciate their willingness to serve," Keeneland President and CEO Bill Thomason said. "They bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for the thoroughbred industry and will be valuable additions to the board."

Phipps Pulito, a Lexington resident, is a member of The Jockey Club and serves on the board of directors of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association and National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. Phipps Stable co-owns 2013 Kentucky Derby winner Orb with Stuart Janney III.

Banwell owns St. George Farm in Lexington and along with his wife, Caroline, are active in both breeding and racing thoroughbreds. Banwell is the CEO and owner of Round Table Investment Management Company and lives in Charlotte, N.C.

Deaton is the Chairman/President and CEO of Central Bank & Trust Co. in Lexington. Deaton serves on the Kentucky Economic Development Partnership Board and previously served on the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the American Bankers Association Board. Deaton resides in Nicholasville, Ky.

McLean is the co-owner and business manager for his family's 1,000-acre Crestwood Farm in Lexington. He serves on the board of directors and as treasurer of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association/Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders.

Shively is the owner of Dixiana Farm in Lexington. In 2004, Shively purchased Dixiana Farm, and in 2009 he added neighboring Domino Stud to restore historic Dixiana to its original acreage.
