HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

LAUREL PARK

TOUCHDOWNTONY: Offered a mild rally for third when back to dirt for his latest following failed turf experiment at PEN; sharper next time in third start since early-June.

ALL FOR PEACE: Made up a lot of ground from a wide spot when stretched out in distance by way of CT for his latest; often underneath, so a must in gimmicks, but consider at value on top.

DR. DREW: Made the pace and held for half-length score in his latest, when able to rebound from dull eighth-place try at DEL in prior try; can stay sharp for J. Vazquez barn (24% wins this year).

NICKI FLASH: Made the pace, was overtaken, and chased to finish third behind a blowout winner in a useful racing debut; should only improve from here.

EK HASEENA: Rallied wide and through some traffic to finish a very nice third in her first start since April most recently; solid overall resume for winning F. Campitelli barn.

MUCHO MAS MACHO: Did too little too late when trying to rally from way back at 12-furlong trip on turf and managed third in his latest; classy sort is on our tickets.

4*SPECIAL: WYATT’S WOMEN: Rarely runs a poor one and game second in her latest was no exception; might have to take short price on proven 9YO mare.

LONGSHOT: LOVE SHACK (IRE): Swung wide and made up some ground, but came up empty when it counted and settled for fifth in her latest; solid sort can do better and should offer value.

CHURCHILL DOWNS

HOMEBOYKRIS: Jumped up to finish second on needed class drop when in from SAR for his latest; classy veteran with $439K in purses earned can make hay off $16K-claim for Ramsey/Maker combination.

SHE’LL GET EVEN: Pressed the pace and weakened to finish third on drop to MCL level when moving from turf to dirt and in from ELP for her latest; moves up off first start in two months.

BURN THE MORTGAGE: Rated, rallied, and rolled to a 4 ½-length tally when shipped in from AP for his latest; keeps rolling for M. Tomlinson barn.

LUCYGOTGAME: Returned to local scene following blowout win at MNR in prior start and raced wide en route to flat fourth-place finish; another chance.

STASH THE CAT: Raced with or on the pace throughout en route to a game placing in his racing debut over sloppy strip; juvenile son of Tale of the Cat bears watching for W. Bradley barn.

SMALL TOWN TALK: Put in a good outside run to finish third when back to dirt and dropped to claiming ranks for his latest; something to build on for C. Simon barn (21% wins this year).

PLAYFUL LOVE: Made up a ton of ground from 10th to finish second, beaten 2 ½ lengths, in her racing debut; daughter of Tapit out of a Dixieland Band mare is bred to handle any task thrown her way.

GALLANT PLEASURE: Chased the pace and stayed on for third in fair try most recently, but bears watching off $7,5K-claim for trainer B. Cox (28% wins this year).

BOW TO NO ONE: Didn’t have much racing luck (“blocked, altered course”) when third on move from turf to dirt for her latest; due some racing luck to notch elusive second career win.

4*SPECIAL: DYNAMIC IMPACT: Lunged at the break, raced seventh of nine early, and rallied wide over sloppy ground to pick up fourth in useful racing debut; follow son of Tiznow for solid M. Casse barn.

LONGSHOT: TWO STEPPIN’ TANGO: Chased wide and weakened to third as the favorite over muddy strip in her latest; proven mare could offer value and prove worth $5K-claim for trainer L. Whiting.
