Trinniberg versus Goldencents at Santa Anita

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Champion sprinter Trinniberg and San Anita Derby winner Goldencents top an eight-horse field in Saturday's $250,000 Santa Anita Sprint Championship at six furlongs.

Trinniberg, trained by Bisnath Parboo for Sherry Racing, is returning to the races for the first time since finishing second in the Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder on July 6.

The 4-year-old colt will be ridden by Jose Valdivia Jr. from post 5

He won the Breeders' Cup Sprint as a 13-1 longshot and was voted 2012 champion sprinter. Trinniberg has won five of 16 career starts with five seconds for $1,552,836.

Goldencents, co-owned by Rick Pitino, will start from the outside post with Rafael Bejarano getting the mount for the first time.

Trained by Doug O'Neill, Goldencents made his last start on Aug. 25 when he was second to Fed Biz in the Pat O'Brien Stakes at Del Mar.

The 3-year-old colt won the Sham Stakes to begin 2013 followed by a fourth in the San Vicente before winning the Santa Anita Derby. He then finished 17th in the Kentucky Derby and fifth in the Preakness. He was also second in Del Mar's Bing Crosby Stakes .

Post-time for the six-furlong Sprint Championship is approximately 8 p.m. (ET).
