Fiftyshadesofhay headlines Indiana Oaks

Shelbyville, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Alabama Stakes runner-up Fiftyshadesofhay is the one to beat in Saturday's $200,000 Indiana Oaks at Indiana Downs. The 1 1/16-mile Oaks is the co-feature on the card with the $500,000 Indiana Derby which will be run at the same distance.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Fiftyshadesofhay will start from post 2 in the field of eight 3-year-old fillies, with Martin Garcia riding. The pair teamed up in June to win the Iowa Oaks at Prairie Meadows.

Fiftyshadesofhay, owned by Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman, finished 2 1/2 lengths behind Princess of Sylmar in the Alabama. She won the Iowa Oaks by 3 1/2 lengths in her first start after winning the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico.

This year the filly has won three of seven starts for $686,250 while banking $732,490 overall with four wins in 11 starts.

Here is the full field in post position order: Run Forestry Run, Thomas Pompell; Fiftyshadesofhay, Martin Garcia; Fully Living, Brian Hernandez Jr.; Wild About Irene, Fernando De La Cruz; Plenty O'toole, Miguel Mena; Seaneen Girl, Leandro Goncalves; Pure Fun, Victor Lebron and Oscar Party, David Flores.

A dozen 3-year-old colts will start in the Indiana Derby after 15 were entered for the event.

Prince of Wales Stakes winner Uncaptured has drawn post 8 and again will be ridden by Miguel Mena. The colt is owned by John Oxley and trained by Mark Casse.

Uncaptured was third to Edge of Reality in the Smarty Jones on Sept. 2 at Parx Racing. Edge of Reality will start from post 2 in the race with Stewart Elliott returning to ride the colt.

Leading trainer Todd Pletcher sends out Micromanange after a fifth-place finish in the Smarty Jones. Rajiv Maragh has the mount and will leave from post 12.

Power Broker, second to Verrazano in the Haskell, will break from post 5 with Rosie Napravnik in the saddle. The chestnut colt is trained by Bob Baffert for Gary and Mary West.

Micromanage and Midnight Taboo are coupled. The also eligibles are Ground Transport, Miraculousmo and Skilltopaythebills.

The Oaks has an approximate post-time of 6:05 p.m. (ET) followed by the Indiana Derby at 6:50 p.m.
