Mucho Macho Man puts in Breeders' Cup work

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Breeders' Cup Classic runner-up Mucho Macho Man had his next to last workout Saturday at Santa Anita before the World Championships on Nov. 2.

Trained by Kathy Ritvo, Mucho Macho Man worked five furlongs in 1:02 1/5 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:15.

"He went very well," Ritvo said. "He had a great work today and he'll have one more before the Classic."

The 5-year-old won the Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita in his most recent start to record his first win of the year.

Owned by Reeves Thoroughbreds, Mucho Macho Man had a two-month break between starts. He was third to Cross Traffic in the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga on Aug. 3, but was scratched from the Woodward.

Mucho Macho Man has career earnings of $2,590,410 with seven wins in 22 starts.

Travers runner-up Moreno, trained by Eric Guillot, worked five furlongs as well Saturday at Santa Anita. The 3-year-old covered the distance in 1:00 3/5 with Joe Talamo aboard.

"He went really well," Guillot said. "He galloped out seven-eighths in (one) 26 and four."

Shadwell Turf Mile winner Silver Max worked four furlongs for trainer Dale Romans in 46 4/5 seconds. Romans also had defending Breeders' Cup Turf winner Little Mike workout. The 6-year-old went five furlongs on the main track in 1:01 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:15.
