HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

SARATOGA

ALL FOR LOVE: Showed good speed from the inside, pressed the pace before fading to last of seven. Needs a drop

into maiden claimers to get the job done.

BOOM BAH YAY: Led until the mile mark in the race before fading in the drive. Needs a turnback in distance and

some class relief.

CLAY’S ROCKET: Broke a step slow, rushed up to battle for the lead and just kept on going for an easy score. Taken

to repeat with a similar effort.

ELLIEONTHEMARCH: Returned in a tough allowance field last out and finished sixth. Needed that race and should

improve next out with further conditioning.

FONDA RONDA: Finished midpack after steadying repeatedly while racing on the inside part of the track. 2YO should

improve with a clean trip next out.

GONNABREAKEVEN: Broke poorly, raced greenly before making up some ground late to finish a well beaten 8th. Hails

from the Pletcher barn so look for a much improved effort next out.

HEROIC MOMENT: Has shown some flashes and most recent fourth was ok. Was claimed and fits with straight three

year old claimers.

KALOOKAN LADY: Was the easiest kind of winner in her career debut last year versus maiden claimers and returned this

year with a solid pace pressing effort to finish fourth. Was claimed by the Scott Lake barn and should be set for best next out.

LET’S SMOKE’EM: Took some sneaky money for career debut but finished ninth after breaking slowly and racing wide.

Should improve with that race under her belt.

MOMENT OF HONOUR: Was outrun early on, raced wide and finished an even sixth. Should improve off that

debut race.

QUATRE DIX NEUF: Didn’t run a step last out for $25k claimers going two turns. Would appreciate a turnback in distance

to a one turn race.

SKIP A GRADE: Came with a wide run into the stretch and hung on the money just missing the place spot. Look for a

turnback in distance to get the job done.

SOARING AWAY: Showed some potential last year but has not lived up to it just yet. Will probably benefit from

shorter distances.

THESCHEMEOFTHINGS: Well bred filly didn’t take any money for career debut but did finish up well for fourth last out.

Should improve the further they go.

4STARSPECIAL: THUNDER RIDGE: Showed good speed while racing from an outside post. Ran head to head into

the lane but came up empty, tiring to fourth. Should graduate next out with that race under his belt.

LONGSHOT: NEVAEH: New York bred looked like she had a future late last year and earlier this year. However, they tried

her at longer distances and different surfaces. Try her back on the dirt in sprint races.

CALDER

ATWORK: Showed good speed into the stretch while laying down some solid splits before tiring to third, losing by less

than a length.

FABULOUS LOOKER: Was in tight early, outrun and then closed for a solid second behind the favorite. Should get

there with NW2L claimers.

GROOMEROMA: Closed from dead last to get up for the place spot behind wire to wire winner. Will be real tough over a

even track next out.

HEART OF JULES: Like the way this 3YO scored last out over a sloppy track. Well bred colt may have taken to the slop

or may be improving, stay close.

PROVEN HONOR: Rolled off an easy wire to wire score as the favorite while traveling five furlongs. Should repeat with a

similar effort.

TOUCH SOFTLY: Closed some ground to finish fourth after trailing the field early on. Fits nicely with $10k claimers.

VELMA KELLY: Just missed by a neck last out, losing to the 4-5 favorite after battling the whole way, while laying down

some solid splits. Scores with NW2L claimers.

WHEATONS BELLE: Like her win last out at 29-1 after breaking from a difficult post, laid close and then took over when

it counted. Tab with NW3L claimers.

4STARSPECIAL: LOVE MY MOUNTAIN: Has some backclass and his most recent second points him out with basement

claimers, follow.

LONGSHOT: MISS MARONIE: Was up close to the pace of the two favorites and held on well for third at 36-1; the price

is right and can add juice to the exotics.
