Royal Delta, trained by Bill Mott, was a two-time winner of the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic, now known as the Distaff. After winning the 2011 race she was voted that year's champion 3-year-old filly and the following year won the Eclipse Award as champion Older Female.

The mare finished her career in this month's Distaff, but finished fourth behind Beholder.

In her career, Royal Delta earned more than $4.8 million with 12 wins in 22 starts.
