HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
FAIR GROUNDS
KITTYWITHALILSALT: Two year old filly
was sent off at 4-1 for her debut, quickly opened up a clear lead through a ½
mile, started to tire into the lane and tired to finish 10th, fits
with statebred maiden claimers and her speed makes her dangerous.
NATTY BOH: Speedy three year
old filly came out running last out over the turf, chased the pace for a half
mile but tired in the lane to finish 8th and last, is better on the
dirt so follow right back on the main track.
NEV’S CAT: Three year old
gelding raced off the rail early while near the back of the pack, came with a
wide run to take over into the lane but came up just a head short at 39-1;
offers value right back despite that solid effort.
PUNCTUAL JEFF: Was coming off a
June layoff last out, raced in the back of the pack early on over a yielding
turf course, raced two wide around the far turn, steadied at the ¼ pole but
then regrouped and rolled on by to score by more than three lengths, can start
moving up the ladder.
TSAVO: Three year old
gelding was coming off since August, set the pace from the start for ¾’s of a
mile but tired in the lane to finish fifth; should move forward off that effort
and should be a decent price right back, tab with NW2L statebred $12.5k
claimers.
BEST BET: ARTEST: Moved into a new barn last out
and was coming off an August layoff, was outrun early on in a sprint turf race,
started to move up on the turn and finished well for second at 8-1; could have
a good winter here, follow.
LONGSHOT: TIPPY DUGAS: Four year old filly was
carried out at the start, settled in midpack, moved outside into the lane but
couldn’t go on with it and tired late to finish fourth at 20-1; follow right
back with NW3L $5k statebred claimers.
TURF PARADISE
GAME SEVEN: Was coming off a
September layoff last out and was shipping back in from Hastings Park, was
outrun racing in last, swung wide into the lane and rolled on by for an easy
win at 10-1 over the 1-2 favorite, he is a closer that needs a pace up front
but can offer value here this winter.
SHEMYA REEF: Was away in sixth
last out behind some sharp fractions, came six wide into the lane and finished
up well to fourth less than a length off the place spot at 25-1; offers value
with time restricted claimers right back.
MY LITTLE TWEETY: Three year old
gelding came out running last out, pressed the pace while three wide through a
half mile in 44:3, couldn’t go with the leaders in the lane tiring to finish
fifth at 10-1; is a threat if he can clear off early on.
MYSTERY TOUR: Ran an improved
race last out in her second try over the turf, was away in sixth, closed well
in the lane to finish third behind the two favorites, handles the dirt as well,
tab this two year old filly right back.
LUKESGOODTOME: Veered in soon
after the start and bumped with some rivals, quickly recovered and opened up a
clear lead through a half mile in 45 flat, was still there at the top of the
lane but tired to finish fourth at 9-1; was D’Q for the interference at the
start but is a threat right back to wire similar.
BEST BET: SHARP ACT: Was away since August
heading into her last start, hustled up in between horses to get into fourth,
dropped back a bit but then came again to finish third behind the odds-on
choice, should be all set now.
LONGSHOT: LATIN COFFEE: Is 1 for 23 but is now 0
for 15 this year most recently checking in a solid second at 49-1 just missing
by a neck, still offers the value right back versus NW2L $3.5k claimers,
follow.
