By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Following the first full week of 2014, 10 3-year-olds have at least 10 points in the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" points system.

This past Saturday, the $100,000 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita was the lone race awarding points to potential Kentucky Derby starters. Midnight Hawk, trained by Bob Baffert, won the mile stakes by just under two lengths and received 10 points.

"It's pretty exciting. It's nice to be a part of a winner. Anytime you win it's exciting, in anything, tiddlywinks, horse racing or football," said part owner Mike Tice, Atlanta Falcons offensive line coach.

Leading the way in the points standings with 14 are Havana and Honor Code. With 12 points is Tapiture followed by Bond Holder with 11. Joining Midnight Hawk with 10 points are Rise Up, We Miss Artie, Noble Moon, Ami's Holiday and Cleburne.

Saturday at Fair Grounds in New Orleans will be the mile, 70 yard Lecomte Stakes worth 10-4-2-1 in the points standings.

The 140th Kentucky Derby will be run Saturday, May 3, 2014. The purse stands at $2 million.
