Poor weather and fog force cancellations

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Warm temperatures and fog has forced Laurel Park and Aqueduct to cancel their Saturday races.

The track condition at Laurel Park due to high temperatures was judged to be unsafe for racing Saturday and management canceled the card.

"With the temperature going from the single digits early in the week to nearly 60 today, the track has been freezing, thawing and freezing again," Maryland Jockey Club Director of Racing Georganne Hale said. "The combination of the freezing and the moisture are the contributing factors. We couldn't even get a piece of equipment out on the track. They were just sinking."

Live racing is scheduled to resume Wednesday at Laurel with a 12:35 p.m. (ET) post-time.

Heavy fog was the culprit at Aqueduct. The New York Racing Association canceled after Saturday's first race was run at the track. Racing is expected to resume Sunday.

Also canceling was Penn National near Harrisburg, Pa. Winter weather conditions was the reason Saturday night's program was canceled. Penn National will
