Risen Star to mark 2014 debut for Rise Up

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Delta Jackpot winner Rise Up is headed for the $400,000 Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 22 at Fair Grounds.

The 1 1/16-mile Risen Star will be the colt's debut race as a 3-year-old.

"He's had two works now since he got back from his brief vacation in Ocala," trainer Tom Amoss said, "and from now on his work load will keep on intensifying. We are definitely targeting the Risen Star with him."

Owned by Paul and Andrena Van Doren, Rise Up won the Delta Jackpot at Delta Downs by six lengths on Nov. 23. That followed a 6 1/2-length victory in the Jean Lafitte Stakes.

The colt, a son of Rockport Harbor, has won four of six starts for $810,633.
