HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

FAIR GROUNDS

ALL ABOUT INTEREST: Five year old gelding came out running from the outside post 7, set some solid fractions through a half mile in 45 flat but couldn’t get to the wire first tiring late to finish third just a length off the winner.

BROWN ALMIGHTY: Four year old was making just his second start since November, stayed in the race despite the sloppy/sealed surface, battled head to head early on but tired late to finish fourth, needed the race and should improve, wait for the turf and go to the window.

SIR CHARGE: Three year old gelding broke from post 8 last out, chased the pace while wide on the first turn, moved up wide on the final turn as well but couldn’t finish it off checking in fourth at 28-1; doesn’t like a wet track now 0 for 4 and could be a solid price next out over a fast surface.

TULSA RED: Five year old mare had shown absolutely nothing through her first six races, she stretched out in distance last out, set the pace through moderate splits but tired just a bit late to finish third behind the favorite a 63-1; is a must use in a similar spot at a square mutuel.

WHOLLY HUGHES: Three year old gelding stayed in the race last out when it was taken off the turf, chased the pace over a sloppy/sealed track but tired to finish sixth and last at 16-1; give this one a look back on the lawn at a big price.

BEST BET: SANCULPA: Three year old colt made his career debut last out over the turf going a mile, was reluctant to load, got away at the back of the pack, raced three wide around the turn, was still far back approaching the lane but finished up well for fourth at 8-1, will prove very tough right back for the Stidham barn.

LONGSHOT: LOFTY EXPECTATIONS: Four year old filly has had some good races and some terrible races in her 14 race career, came out running last out, set a sharp half mile in 45:4, was still there at the top of the lane but tired late to finish fourth behind the odds-on favorite at 16-1; follow right back with NW3L $5k statebred claimers.

TURF PARADISE

HUNTER KANE: Has been on the dirt for a while now but made the move back to the turf last out, got away in third, stalked the leaders through sharp fractions into the lane and ran on well for second to the 6-5 winning favorite, tab.

RISESEASTSETSWEST: Four year old gelding was away slowly and raced in 8th early on, closed well while navigating traffic checking in third behind the two leaders, can be tough with a better trip.

SNOW ME THE MONEY: Five year old mare moved up off a win last out, came out of the gate running last out, set a solid pace into the lane but came up a head short while easily clear of the show horse.

SOME KINDA BOY: Was making his first start since May, added blinkers, came out running from post two, set the pace from the start and into the lane but tired late to finish fourth at 7-2; should be all set next out.

TALK THE WALK: Has been good over his last three efforts with a win, a second and a third most recently checking in third behind the two favorites in a starter stakes in a solid time of 1:16, could be all set right back in current form.

BEST BET: GHOSTSTONE: Very well bred four year old filly has been bad in her first five starts earlier in 2013, returned in a new barn and sprinting, chased a bit early on and checked in 7th late, needed that race and should improve on the stretchout.

LONGSHOT: GONE DIGITAL: Is now 0 for 7 over the turf but put in a solid effort last out battled on the lead over the turf and into the lane couldn’t finish it off and tired to finish fourth at 48-1; follow right back on either surface at a square price.
