Schedule being formulated for Mucho Macho Man

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Hallandale Beach, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Breeders' Cup Classic winner Mucho Macho Man has returned to his barn at Gulfstream Park from Santa Anita and is awaiting a decision on his next start.

Owned by Dean and Patti Reeves and Frank Stronach, and trained by Kathy Ritvo, Mucho Macho Man finished fourth in last week's Santa Anita Handicap behind Game On Dude and Will Take Charge.

"He looks good," Ritvo said. "I'm not big on excuses. He took a lot of dirt, and I think the track was a little different than it was before, but that's OK. We had a lot of rain out there, too, so we missed some training days. I don't like excuses. It was just a lot of little things."

The Big 'Cap was the 6-year-old's second start of the year. Mucho Macho Man won the Florida Sunshine Classic at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 18 by 14 lengths.

No decision has been made on the horse's next start.

"We'll check him out and see how he is and let him tell us when he's ready to go back to the track," Ritvo said. "When he tells us he's ready, we'll send him back to the track to jog.

"Everything is good. We're in a better position this year than we were last year. We'll just let him tell us what we need to do. He'll tell me when he's ready to run again."

The 6-year-old has earned $5,625,410 in 25 starts with nine victories.
