No decision on California Chrome's next race

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Arcadia, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - No decision has been made on the next start for San Felipe Stakes winner California Chrome.

The 3-year-old, trained by Art Sherman, registered a 7 1/4-length victory last Saturday in the 1 1/16-mile San Felipe at Santa Anita Park. The 7-5 favorite defeated 2-1 second choice Midnight Hawk in the stakes to post his third straight win, all stakes.

"It's too early to know right now," Sherman said about the colt's next start. "He came out of the San Felipe in good shape but he'll let me know when he's ready and where we'll go next. Right now I'm just doing maintenance work with him, keeping him in light training."

Owned by Steven Coburn and Perry Martin, California Chrome has won five of nine career starts for $534,850.

The chestnut 3-year-old had a 5 1/2-length victory in the California Cup Derby at Santa Anita on Jan. 25. The colt won the King Glorious Stakes by 6 1/4 lengths in Hollywood Park's final stakes on Nov. 22.
