By: SPORTS NETWORK
Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Thursday announcement that 6-1 second pick Hoppertunity will be scratched from Saturday's 140th Kentucky Derby has caused Churchill Downs oddsmaker Mike Battaglia to update some of the odds for the Run for the Roses. California Chrome remains the 5-2 early favorite but Wicked Strong has been upgraded to second at 6-1 from his original 8-1. Danza and Intense Holiday are the co-third choices at 8-1 after being 10-1 and 12-1, respectively. The revised line from the rail out is as follows: Vicar's in Trouble, 20-1; Harry's Holiday, 50-1; Uncle Sigh, 30-1; Danza, 8-1; California Chrome, 5-2; Samraat, 15-1; We Miss Artie, 50-1; General a Rod, 15-1; Vinceremos, 30-1; Wildcat Red, 15-1; Dance With Fate, 20-1; Chitu, 20-1; Medal Count, 20-1; Tapiture, 12-1; Intense Holiday, 8-1; Commanding Curve, 50-1; Candy Boy, 15-1; Ride On Curlin, 15-1; Wicked Strong, 6-1 and Pablo Del Monte, 50-1. The scratch of Hoppertunity means that horses from 12-20 move in one post to allow also eligible Pablo del Monte to join the field and start from post 20 with saddle cloth No. 21. All other saddle cloth numbers are unchanged.
